Adelbert Doisy (1792-1879)
Biography:
Translator for Irish publishers Simms and M'Intyre, Comte Adelbert Jacques Doisy de Villargennes taught at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution in 1819-1837 and 1844-1846. Immediately afterwards, he emigrated to Cincinnati. A lifetime supporter of Napoléon, he was born in France, became a lieutenant under the emperor, and taken as a prisoner of war by the English. He was brought to Ireland, where he met both of his wives.
